Will,
We have around eight collection events between May and September with about 2000 cars.
In 2019 we started requiring residents to make an appointment. We ask for their city, twp or village during that call.
At the event, and this we’ve done for years, residents are supposed to show a driver’s license, state ID, tax bill or utility bill. We almost always get
a DL.
For those situations you’ve described below, the out of town family member can bring a utility or tax bill. We haven’t had any issues beyond that.
As far as undocumented folks of those who may not have a current address, I don’t recall anyone who met that criteria.
Good luck!
Katharine

Subject: Proof of Residency
Hi Everyone,
As our program is expanding, we’ve been looking at requiring proof of in-county residency for 2021 (with a one-year phase-in). I was wondering if any other programs do anything like this and how they handle situations like:
If you require proof of residency, I was also wondering what sort of documents that you accept.
Thank you so much,
Will Garcia
