Hi Katherine – We have an annual  3-county collection on the second Saturday of October. We do not take appointments because our funding comes from cities, counties, townships, organizations, etc. in the three counties. When we first started up we too were going to take appointments but quickly learned we would lose allot of our funding if we did (townships did not like it), so we  don’t. If they have a limited source of funding then they may have to take appointments as to stay within budget. Thus far, this has not been a problem for us and it’s been 13 years running

You can have them call me if they wish.

I am writing on behalf of one of our recycling partner counties: Presque Isle, population roughly 13,050.  They are planning their first HHW event (in at least a decade) for this summer and trying to decide whether to take appointments or not.

We have always taken appointments, so I don’t have much perspective to offer them in this regard.  If you represent a rural community that runs HHW events without appointments and you would be available to talk with them about your experience, please contact me.
