This system will help homeowners find our HHW collection information as well as answer the “Where do I recycle…?” questions we hear so often.

The DEQ proudly presents the Waste Management & Regulations Webinar Series - a monthly webinar series highlighting specific topics associated with waste regulations and how to comply with them. The goal of the webinar series is to help businesses better understand how to properly manage their waste in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations. The series will benefit anyone responsible for proper management and recycling of unwanted materials from industrial, commercial, or municipal operations. The webinars will be introductory in nature and will feature firsthand experience from a variety of staff from the DEQ’s Office of Waste Management and Radiological Protection.


Michigan's New ReTRAC & Recycle Search System

In this webinar attendees will learn the ins and outs of the new ReTRAC and Recycle Search system.  The Recycle Search system is used to find recyclers and special waste collections, while the ReTRAC system is used to register and report recycling in accordance with the recently passed Part 175 Recycling Measurement legislation.  ReTRAC will be enhanced where possible to allow for registration and tracking of special waste collections for materials like medications and pesticides.  This session will demonstrate how to use ReTRAC, from the perspective of a recycling center or special waste collector and how to use Recycle Search, from the perspective of a business or resident looking for a recycler or special waste collection.  Also discussed will be the connection between the ReTRAC and Recycle Search.  This webinar will benefit anyone interested in recycling or special waste collections and is targeted for recyclers, household hazardous waste collection coordinators, and special waste vendors.

Sorting Recycling Facts from Fiction

In this webinar attendees will learn the basics about recycling. Why does it cost money to recycle? What are the impacts of putting the wrong items in the recycling bin? What should you know about contracting with a recycling provider? Staff from the DEQ Recycling Program will answer common recycling questions and discuss issues to consider when starting or enhancing a recycling program in your community, business, or institution. This webinar is expected to last 40 minutes with questions to follow.
