Hi all. The following are the resources we discussed at the roundtable meeting today. If you have any questions, just let me know. Please also feel free to bounce people to me for help understanding DEQ waste regulations. I’d be glad to help answer their questions or get them to the appropriate DEQ staff for you.
· Household Medication Takeback Mapping – We’re collecting data for mapping through March 30 via the survey shared in the attached e-mail. Please forward this request to folks who participate in your programs so they can help us share their collection information for mapping. Where time permits, and your program is accessed via our takeback web page, I’ll reach out to have you verify the information we’ve mined from our web page, and yours.
· Drug Disposal Resources – The “hub” for our resources is www.michigan.gov/deqdrugdisposal. For residential drug disposal assistance, we produced an MDEQ Minute YouTube video, Save a Life Card. Resources on healthcare disposal of unwanted medications include our recorded webinar, MHA guide example posting, and MHA guide (see page 17 for managing pharmaceuticals as a universal waste
· Sharps and Recycling – Attached is the new card, which has not yet been posted on-line that I mentioned. It’s a great resource to print and distribute to your community for awareness. Hopefully they’ll get it on-line soon
· Medical Waste Pocket Guide – This gives an overview of the business sharps/medical waste handling requirements and an example medical waste management plan is found at www.michigan.gov/deqmedwaste with additional resources.
· Household Hazardous Waste Web Page – Please take a look at this page, as this is where I’m adding resources for you all to find/use. This page has the list I’ve been maintaining regarding your contact information. If any contacts have changed, please let both Cindy and I know so we can update our lists.
· Fats, Oil and Grease – See the Bodies of Dead Animals Act web page, that includes MDARD renderers and registered transporters.
· Liquid Industrial By-products – See the generator guidance and law. Our November webinar on collecting household hazardous waste and very small quantity generator waste covered collecting liquid industrial by-product as well.
· Michigan Environmental Compliance Conference – We’re open for registration and here is the agenda at a glance, and the 2016 guidebook which will be updated and shared with each attendee for the event.
Thanks again for your time and insight today.
