Subject: Re: Tires
Just today I was in touch with Tire Reclaimers in Indiana who seems to have a reasonable rate for agriculture tires. They are out of IN, so they can't be covered with MI grants, as far as I understand, but if other funds are available,
they might be a good option for you.
I spoke with Jim at 574-596-9852. He said that there is a flat rate charge of $100 for each trailer that you have. Then, it is $25 per foot, so $1325 for a 53' trailer plus the $100. Then, if you order more than one trailer, and only fill
part of the second or third trailer, he will not charge the full rate. He will minimally charge for half of the trailer. For instance, if you were to fill 40' of the second trailer, he would charge $25 x 40'. Any tires can be accepted - all sizes, on and off
rim. Hopefully this is still helpful even though it's IN!

I have had many inquiries about the disposal of agricultural tires. This year we are using Deerpath for the Scrap Tire Grant Event and they charge a steep rate for ag. tires because they do not normally accept them and have to arrange for special equipment to process the ag tires. Our grant is processed through South West Michigan Solid Waste Consortium, so we all use the same vendor.
My question is, can anyone recommend a vendor that has the equipment to process ag tires? Or, recommend a vendor that charges a reasonable rate to accept ag. tires? I have many residents with piles of ag tires and I am seeking resources to assist them. Any input would be great!
