I don’t have a good answer, but I think I remember something from my HAZWOPER class about it being used for the large cooling equipment at Meijer’s main distribution center.   Maybe try to contact Meijer and see what they do for disposal? Hope that helps.

Subject: RV Fridge with Ammonium ___Hydroxide?

Hello HHW family,

Have any of you ever advised someone how to recycle an RV/camper refrigerator that used Ammonia as the refrigerant? In all of my 20 years with the program, I have never heard of this. My customer has contacted several RV companies/distributors, a metal recycling company and a couple appliance stores that recycle Freon devices but none of them had advice on recycling this unit. I would appreciate any suggestions.
