A community clean-up day is when we offer our hazardous waste event on the road at a host municipal site, and combine it with other disposal opportunities that usually include tires, general recyclables, e-waste, scrap metal and white goods, and bulk item refuse disposal including C&D waste. Depending on local resources we sometimes also include medication disposal as well.

A flyer from one of last year's collections is attached.

What do you mean by a "clean up day"? Litter pick up? Bulky waste drop-off/pick up? HHW?

Washtenaw County is considering options to encourage more communities within the county to host clean up days. One option on the table is to have interested municipalities submit grant applications to our office in order to access county financial support.

We’re wondering if any other counties have in place any type of internal grant system such as we are considering.

Thanks - Jon Tulman
